Croatian youth organization in Vojvodina
(Udruga hrvatske omladine u Vojvodini - CroV)
“CroV” is
the only NGO for young Croats, that exits in Serbia. It
was founded in 2001. The Central office of the
organization is in Subotica, with side office in
Petrovaradin (village near Novi Sad). Organization is
in good cooperation with Croats culture centers in
surrounding villages but there are no established
branches yet. Altogether, the NGO has around 200
members of which approximately 30 are active.
Croats became minority in Serbia just a few years ago,
right after the civil war in former Yugoslavia in the
mid ’90s. Our fundamental aims are to motivate young
people to organize cultural and civil life sphere,
student meetings and trainings on minority themes,
promotion of youth rights and minority rights
protection.
CroV is the initiator and one of the founder
organizations of Youth network of Subotica (MMS). We
are in contact with many youth organizations from
Vojvodina and Croat minority NGOs from surrounding
countries. CroV was present in YEN seminars since 2003.
